15. 101 things that I value the most.
100 Things I Love
I've been kind of half working on this off and on since I started 101 goals. 2.0 thought I'd just share it now and will work on refining it and editing it more later.
You’re going to make lists that will add up to 100 things you love. Make sure you give an explanation for each of the things you add to your list. For example, don’t just list your favorite restaurants, write down what you enjoy about each one (the warm bread they serve before the meal, the waiter who always remembers your favorite dish, the whimsical decor, and so on).
So I'm going to use this as a writing prompt for 750 words and more so for the national novel writing month. I want to think this through and utilize it really well.
When does what we do for volunteering activities or for something on a list here turn from something that brings us joy and excitement it's just annoying, lame and not even really worth our time and effort or something that historically was worth it but now is really decreased in value.
10 Activities
1) reading I actually really enjoy reading all kinds of materials from websites to books mostly nonfiction and educational. My second bedroom has floor to ceiling bookshelves basically wall to wall and it's still overflowing with books.
2) writing I really enjoy just writing stuff and allowing me to visualize and see how I feel about certain things, what I think about them and how they've impacted me. But editing vs writing I love to write am not the best editor :)
3) walking I do about a mile walk every morning. I live down the street from a small Park in a small town. I find that it's refreshing and it helps me get started in the morning. I prefer to walk places over driving. It's less stressful and also off and on with my health issues. I haven't been able to drive so it's been take a bus ride with a buddy or walk would kind of be my mobility options for transportation. I guess also along with the walking would be going to the gym or some sort of exercise which I really enjoy swimming but I'm not a big fan of the gym overall I'll just do it cuz I want to be healthy that because I get much joy out of it.
4) talking I've always enjoyed interacting with people more so with voice either in person or on Zoom or something. I've always had a curiosity to know and meet people expand my social circle hear what people have to say with their life experiences have been. I always feel like I learned something new from almost anyone that I talk to whether that it's something that it makes me think about or really expands my mind on really life enriching concepts or ideas. Or at least at a minimum I learned that I probably don't want to talk to them again.
5) technology this is a pretty broad and open term but I've always been fascinated by different technologies that are out there arrange it from the telecommunications technology of cell phones the various operating systems the various applications within those devices raspberry pies wiki readers TV tuners Etc it's always been something that is interesting to me and that I have enjoyed playing with utilizing Etc a buddy of mine says with all the ideas that I have and the things that I do I just play with them as toys. Where he uses them in the most manly obsessive compulsive order of tools he once he latches on to an idea he doesn't let go until it's a dead horse beating the ground.
6) travel and conventions I really enjoy going to different sci-fi conventions. , business conventions, all those types of things they're all really kind of fascinating events and they transcend the here and now they transcend our everyday lives and they bring us into a different mindset and perspective.
The landlord is of Iowa conventions good animeiowa icon iowa in various other events are just interested to interact with that see people especially when there's that common Bond.
If it's on my own free will and I'm going somewhere just for fun it would be the north side of Chicago kind of the cultural hub of the Midwest and the fact that I can get free housing for a couple days from my aunt on her lakefront condo makes it even better.
7) photography I do not have nor want an Instagram Pinterest account. I'm fascinated with images photography , photos Etc.
I love taking photos. I've taken over 50,000 that I have backed up on Google photos. I also scan a lot of photos and I'm working with my mother to get her collection consolidated and scanned down so it's more accessible and searchable and just better overall for everybody in the family.
I took photography classes at high School and I enjoy still images more than moving pictures. I love watching moving pictures. I don't like editing them and dealing with that and I really like the raw images. I don't like to do the filters and the Photoshop BS. Photos to me are really a snapshot in time and it's really interesting to look back at historic ones and then see what the location for a building or businesses looking like now.
8) joining clubs
Freemasons library friends group stamp club genealogy historical Club dinner clubs and more. I've always had a fascination with Civic society volunteering engagement in groups and individuals and trying to make things better in a voluntary collective effort and I also think there's kind of a sense of belonging that these are my people this is my tribe and even if I don't agree with everything that everyone says will respect each other's differences and find some sort of common ground on which we could agree on.
9) making money I didn't put this near the top of the list cuz I really don't want to prioritize this I just want to make enough that I could keep a roof over my head and have sort of back up. I think too many people spend too much time chasing too few dollars or delusions of riches that never manifest but I think you can generate revenue in a Sane And a safe way. I always like the multiple revenue streams I've always talked about that since I was in high school and that's something that I'm striving for. I already have a rental unit with my duplex.
I'd like it if I started more of these online things and that I could get some of them to take off even if it was just a couple bucks a month and money that'd be appreciated. And then I'm working on a self-employed job freelancing career path. I'm going to work with score more on that but I'm heading down that path.
10 Restaurants or types of food
1 Five guys burgers if you get a big cheeseburger from these guys a nice chocolate shake nobody does it better I've tried a lot of places but five guys tends to blow them out of the water there's a few that comes close though their fries are okay but they're too many it's also pretty expensive place.
2 ribs so this is it all inclusive one there's several places that make really good ribs the major chain that I would bet you is famous Dave's they're probably my favorite if we're going to get to a shade but then there's like butcher shops and bars and restaurants that make really good ribs but they only have them once a month or once a week or something along those lines but I am a barbecue rib fan they even have like barbecue rib fest in these towns in Iowa and I tend to go to him and try out all the ribs.
3 Italian and pastas there's so many good Italian pasta places to eat at it's a lot of carbs that's a lot of stuff that's that good for a chain biaggi's is my favorite I don't know where I'd put Olive garden it's basically above like a fast food restaurant but below almost any other Italian restaurant. But I'm a big pasta fan and all that.
4) Pizza so many places make pizza it's another variation of the Italian food I really like the thin crust pizzas and if you can do a Canadian bacon and pineapple that would be great if you really want to gorge yourself on Pizza Pizza ranch is the place they'll even make custom pizza orders and it's pretty it's all you can eat I've spent several hours with a buddy of mine at one we are very strategic and we get our money's worth basically start a late lunch and then an early dinner and just hang out there and go to the arcade and chill out and just make it a fun-filled afternoon most people get in and out and their seats are uncomfortable. A lot of cool independent pizza places my favorite one in Chicago is Fox's Pizza I honestly think that's my favorite pizza that I've had ever how they do pizza it's just great.
5 Chick-fil-A I'm really a big chicken fan probably my favorite type of meat to eat I would also say Popeyes and raising Cane are good but Chick-fil-A is kind of in its own League their food is really tasty their capital structure is really interesting to their culture is super conservative but they make a good chicken I mean they what they do they do really well.
6 paninis and soup there's a ton of independent restaurants in the area that offer this stuff and yeah you can go to Panera bread and yes probably overpriced but it's still a really delicious meal when it's a homemade soup and a freshly steamed panini that's just definitely worthwhile to eat and I worked at a place that had a really good Panini restaurant that I went to weekly with soups and stuff is like the one of the highlights of that week the guy who owned it was cool near the end though you sold it to some other guy who was a greedy sob drove out all the good workers made the food taste like garbage and all this other stuff but then a good guy bought it it's only about 20 something now 23 I heard and it's really turned it around.
7 prime rib I like Texas Roadhouse for this Though I do think there's plenty of other places that have a good prime rib and that tends to be my favorite type of cut of meat if I'm going to have high class dining.
8 A&W Root beer restaurant cheese curds burgers and the food is made fresh in the store the only 3 a&w's that I'm aware of that are still in operation in Eastern Iowa one's in Vinton Iowa Riverside Iowa and Dubuque Iowa if you're in those areas it's definitely worth it to check out an A&W restaurant growing up we had a drive-thru or a drive up and I just have so many fond memories of it and I really just loved eating there it was like a place from out of this world Sonic and all those other restaurants where we can't duplicate what the old school a&w's had. The three restaurants above are all gas station plus A&W the Dubuque one in the Vinton would have been really good I've gone to both the number of times the Riverside ones always just kind of a disappointment it's right around the Riverside casino.
9 Amana colonies over the years the restaurants have changed names and ox yoke I think is one of the oldest ones that still around I really enjoyed their family style dining it's a really kind of cool place to be at I haven't really ate a facility besides these that serve food this way they call it family style or something and it used to be pretty affordable and pretty good food it's still good food but I think it's got up a lot of price I honestly didn't eat here much growing up but it was always a real special treat to come out here and come hungry leave stuffed.
10 bluebird Cafe I don't eat Here except for When I leave on the bus to head to Chicago for Iowa City and I think that might skew my bias that this is one of the better breakfast places cuz it usually has a positive correlation I don't eat breakfast out often unless it's for like a social function or some such I just have my oatmeal at home and I have some lunches and I'll dinners out but not too often I'll have a breakfast out I think a lot of people and places do it well but these just happen to be the one that I have the best memories of breakfast at.
10 People influenced me who are no longer around I'm not putting any sort of religious or political figures at least not elected ones.
1 Mr Rogers
Growing up I think Mr Rogers was one of the better influences that I had especially from a media standpoint I like that he was slow paced he was always kind and peaceful and just an overall good dude. He came from a wealthy family and was able to follow his dreams and really influence people in the positive direction. I try to be more like Mr Rogers at least with being calm and peaceful and helpful to other people I think if we had people act more like him we would be in a more peaceful and Harmony prevailing society.
2 Thomas Jefferson
I'm a big fan of the founding fathers Thomas Jefferson rewrote the Bible and took out all the magic Hocus pocus and his Jefferson Bible and focused more on the social Gospel of Jesus Christ he also really pushed for a secular and free society for free speech and also the Jefferson ideas of the small individual their freedom and their opportunity really the backbone of the middle class versus a society that's for the rich by the rich and owned by the monopolistic oligarchs that want to exploit all people.
3 Benjamin Franklin
Ben Franklin was really my gateway drug to history philosophy publishing and Freemasonry he was involved in a number of groups he helped establish public libraries volunteer firefighters all these different groups he used open source technology basically he wouldn't patent things that he invented so others could build on them like the Franklin stove and all these other things he was the Grand Master of the Pennsylvania Masons he was an interesting man who lived a colorful life and his wife really inspired mine in the realm of intellectual curiosity.
4. Jack Kevorkian
Probably the most controversial guy on my list here but I find it interesting on sovereignty and freedom of the individual whether it's from the right to repair and corporate ownership of content tools and technology such as a John Deere tractor or one's own body. Those ideas always fascinate me I've been on my deathbed before I was on a ventilator and In an ICU I don't want to be in that spot again but it also gave me appreciation of life but if I am going to be chronically sick and just on a downward spiral you want to continue the suffering or do you want to have the freedom to check out on your terms
5) Steve Jobs he's on this list because he's dead and also the fact that he did create markets a lot of things that he did I don't agree with but he did start trends he did create markets such as the Macintosh for what it could do computer wise the iPod and the iPhone and those things personally I like Richard stallman way better than him and Bill Gates combined but they did create a lot of money markets products and overall quality of life improvements I will admit. Even if Steve was a proprietary money grubing scumbag who would take headphone jacks universal chargers and ethernet ports away.
6 John c bogle
I cover Mr Bogle quite extensively on websites that I really enjoy but I just feel he's someone worth mentioning a few times here for all the positive contributions he's done is one of the few non-scumbags in the financial services industry when most of them are blood sucking money grubbers he's the one who Lifts people up. I really like credit unions but I feel a majority of them have gotten too commercialized and are basically a bank with a tax break but if it benefits the end member owner of the co-op is that justified? I've actually gotten in a heated discussion / argument with the CEO of a fairly large credit Union in Iowa that myself and my family have been members of for decades and it was an interesting experience.
7 Alexander Bell
The grandfather of the telecommunications industry basically there were telegraphs and all that but really the telephone and the ma bell telephone system really originated with Alexander he's kind of the patron saint of telecommunications thus with my 10 years of telecommunications work I am going to place him on this pedestal of my internal thought processes of people I value from their historic contributions
8 Dale Carnegie
I really enjoyed reading his books my next door neighbor growing up was an old man who used to be a Dale Carnegie instructor he also owned a fleet of fourplexes And duplexes all over the state of Iowa and was really kind of like a grandfather to me. I remember talking to him a lot and I learned so many things from him and he really kind of set me down the path of duplex ownership to where I am today only my duplex and I think that Dale Carnegie's books his message and his communication style are really good I thought about taking a class of his but I basically gone the Toastmasters route and reading his books.
9 Joseph fort Newton
Joseph was an influential Freemason whose name is inscribed on the outside of the Grand Lodge of Iowa he was also a Unitarian minister and really got me thinking about Unitarian versus trinitarian values freedom versus non-credible values nocturnal versus non-doctoral values and a lot of other things that I found interesting and valuable with my life.
10 Franklin Delano Roosevelt
BL wick
The only guy from the Eastern Iowa area that I put on this list there's several others that I could have and I made you a list at some point on that but getting to the point here. BL was a Norwegian immigrant became a lawyer represented the family of the guy who was basically my grandfather and some form or another. We all wrote a number of books
10 things almost everyone takes for granted
1 A roof over our head
It's nice to have a place to go home to it's yours a roof four walls a door that locks it all seems like very basic things but for millions of people over the world they don't have that luxury plenty of people in the US don't even do that either they're just homeless so it's something to think about when you get home and won't shut your door and do all that.
2 Water
Having fresh clean water to drink bathe and flush with is very crucial to have in a healthy happy sanitary society a few places in Michigan weren't so lucky I'm buddies with a guy who taught classes on water sanitary practices processing in that I have a lot of respect for the guy I've read about places that screw that up and then you got really sick people poison people or permanently disabled people. I wouldn't want to be responsible for my own well or a community one I would rather have a regulated public municipal water supply.
3 Electricity
Someone has to keep the lights on it's nice to not have to use candles to be able to charge and run electronics and other devices need electricity this technology is really the backbone of a lot of the current progress that's been made and really it was it until a hundred years ago or so that it was a common technology and in rural areas it wasn't until the Rea or what became rec's rural electrical cooperatives that universal electricity was found in most places in America.
4 Gas or source of heat
It's nice to have a warm home in the winter warm water a microwave or an oven that can heat up food make it warm and tasty.
5) air conditioning
When the weather is really humid miserable or you have allergies or other factors that make the outside air more of a challenge for you it's just nice to be able to be comfortable inside and this is a fairly new technology that's been given to the masses within the last hundred years or so.
6) internet connection
I would basically say with this two-way communication systems because a majority of them run off of VoIP the voice over Internet protocol for how we talk on our phones or text you know you zoom email any of that stuff it's pretty much running off of an Internet protocol backbone that is dependent upon an internet connection and so many things in our life it's streamlined and giving us more accurate information and all that but if it goes down or you have an outage what do you have as a backup or redundant configuration I don't feel that internet connections are as resilient as the electric grid or other utility networks is someone who's worked in Telecom for a number of years but buried fiber lines are probably the best you can get.
7 food
We all need food and something to eat this really should have been higher on the list but here we are we have so much variety and what we can eat with these supermarkets the hy-vees the fairways all those places that have all kinds of foods that you can dream up and get and the fact that you can get a majority of it year round. The kind with all that is that the supply chain is very fragile and then when covid hit you could see how it was kind of breaking in the logistics were not so good I heard right around now about 20 some percent of stuff on the shelf is still not there because of the logistics issues.
8 health care
Everybody gets sick sometime whether it happens when you're younger older frequently and frequently everyone has health and medical problems. We already have universal coverage basically or we will once Medicaid expanded or supplemented in certain areas. If you want to get health care you can get it I think there will be caps on how much you have to pay out of pocket so it won't bankrupt people as much anymore I'm also very grateful that they can't discriminate against pre-existing conditions otherwise most people would just die in the gutter or be penniless sick and broke.
9 freedom
People too willingly surrender their freedom and sovereignly sovereignty it is one of the most precious valuable things that you can possess when you have freedom of time mind and conscious and you do things of your own free will and Accord not beholden to government restrictions employment restrictions family restrictions cultural expectation restrictions you can be free but once you liberate yourself from the restraints of those oppressors what would you do with your freedom? That is the true question when we are conditions to be slaves and surfs to those above us or that we are beholden to in pressure to be an extremely hierarchical culture with this freedom look like?
10???
10 Games
Both video and board games
1) Grand Theft Auto I would say from the Grand Theft Auto III and vice City San Andreas four is okay but I really have enjoyed vice Grand Theft Auto V. This game just is so immersive interactive and fascinating to play that it's almost like the gold standard that other games have to follow by. I would say my personal favorite out of that whole series though is vice City a lot of that's because they have Ray liotta and a whole bunch of other famous voice talent and just have this immersive 1980s atmosphere but I think all the games from those eras are really top notch and it's really something that's why I have a PS2 basically is for playing the series and then when I got a PS3 that's what got me in the Grand Theft Auto V.
2) the sims series. The first Sims I ever played was on the PS2 was the version of The Sims 4 that game and right now it's the only Sims game that I do play. I have really enjoyed it overall it found it fascinating to build homes and to do that I'll probably put together a guide I really enjoy the herbs for the game boy advance SP is what I play it on too. I fight The Sims too when I got it as a free download it's probably my favorite PC version of The Sims especially when it had all the expansion packs and all the bells and whistles and sort of like the refined version of The Sims I've never played The Sims 3 when they had a free download for The Sims 4 I did that but that was just kind of mediocre overall it wasn't something that I was that interested in and I didn't really enjoy it for the amount of space it took. Once EA took away the Sims 2 from me so I can no longer play it I really didn't care much for The Sims 4 and just decided I'd let that go.
3) harvest Moon and in that one I would say friends of mineral Town or more friends of mineral Town in the variations of the friends of mineral Town franchise is that has been by far my favorite farming game ever and really these are the top three they're just pretty fun awesome games they can provide a lot of life for enriching content. It's just interesting how you can make money from sports betting that's really where the big money is on fixing horse races and then you can do kind of your side thing of harvesting crops and you know dealing with animals and that but if you really want to get in the big money and make it quick you got to do the horse betting and I can put some links in about how you go about that pretty interested much more lucrative than any sort of crap you can harvest your farm.

1)Root beer
2)apple juice
3)hot chocolate
4)milk 2% water I don't drink alcohol. I could elaborate on my favorite brands within the above but I try to minimize my cowork intake and just stick to water is that's healthier.
6 Desserts
Chocolate chip cookies
German chocolate cake
pecan pie
toll House
Blueberry pie
monster cookies
10 technology tools & toys hardware
1)dell computers laptop
I've actually done a whole video about my former Dell collection I scrapped a lot of those computers cuz they were pretty much beating up and weren't functioning much but I've always had a passion for dells they always been my favorite one and I still use an old Windows XP Dell to do a lot of art and writing on it's fun to Write books on it and use the clipart and all the other writing tools that it has available for it my current laptop is a Dell that runs Windows 10 but that classic XP Windows Dell desktop was never connected to the internet since I owned it was just used for writing and art.
2) Roku
Roku is my favorite streaming device I'm lucky enough to have a non-smart Samsung television that has HD but none of that 4K bells and whistles BS so I'm able to utilize the roku's that I've had I've always kind of upgraded and changed rokus and I'm really happy with the Roku that I have now it's how I watch the majority of my content and it's really kind of what open my eyes to Google's dominance in the multimedius realm because if I was YouTube then I'm probably not going to watch it that much is I watch it mostly in the background on my TV and I'll just switch to tableau or fubo or Pluto or some other such thing but it would also make me question my YouTube premium membership if I'm not even really watching it that much to justify it what would I be getting out of it then? But I have enjoyed that in Roku is a neutral platform that does allow a lot of content online to flourish and stream on there I've been using one since the I don't know sometime in the last 10 years I think Roku 3 might have been around when I got started probably that was probably the first one I had and then I just added more and upgraded and and that's mostly what I recommend people stream on so.
3) Tablo
This device is a new addition to my hardware collection I'm about $400 into it and hopefully my recurring cost will be about $20 a year and that's just for commercial skip and that's really kind of optional it doesn't make that big of a difference to me but I do really like that this gets all the over the air channels I'm not as big of a fan of watching it in lifetime like when you're watching it it's a live show and changing channels it's kind of a pain in the ass I'm not going to lie about that but if you DVR a bunch of things and it has a quad tuner the particular model that I have and the network connected one so I've shared it with the tenants and the other side of the building since we're on the same Wi-Fi network then we're able to watch content and minimize our bandwidth consumption cuz the only thing that would use bandwidth would be commercial skip and that may be something I'll drop if I feel our bandwidth is being used too much because that takes a hundred to 200 megs per hour of content scanned still a lot less than what streaming directly off the internet would consume. It's a cool device and it's different than the homeworx 150wh which was my first DVR that I've ever used this is more intuitive and just has more bells and whistles and I like that the program guide goes out about 30 days or so.
4) wiki reader
This device ties into my interest in Wikipedia the fact that I like redundant content and especially non-internet connected technology in case the internet is down or I'm getting my data cap it's always nice to have a backup. I had a Britannica hard copy encyclopedia set that I got for 20 bucks I gave that to some family of mine who don't have internet. So for me this was a good compromise it hasn't really been updated in 10 years it runs off an SD card it's all text there's no images but it's still worthwhile to have and an interesting device to utilize I don't think they'd ever make something like this again but I found it to be enjoyable simple and minimal in the amount of electricity and battery utilization it takes.
5) game boy advance SP
This is probably my favorite gaming console of all time I guess if it's a handheld if that's still counts as a console but it's just an awesome device I liked it the screen Lightup up I liked how portable it is I still play with it a fair amount it ties into my game list earlier too harvest Moon's on it there is a Grand Theft Auto variation that's okay and driver and the URbz the Urbz are kind of the end all be all for game boy advance content I also have Tower SP which is another type of Sims game like Sim Tower but they're variation for the game boy advance this is just a cool device and I'm really glad I have it now on non-Internet connected no software updates no microtransactions or micro aggressions or other such struggles or inconvenience that are instilled on others that use more updated equipment.
6) obi 202
I really enjoyed this device it fascinates me to have a totally free landline it's a VoIP system that runs on the back line of Google voice and I've been able to use it for listing my duplex for rent or other times that I'm communicating with someone but I don't want to give out my personal number or my primary number and I can filter through really well with this device it is a little piece of hardware it connects to the ethernet and then the phone jack had a lot of fun with it and it's intellectually interesting it's also probably the most fascinating Telecom device that I have around my house that I could actually utilize so I got it at a cheaper price than what they're selling for now and the fact that there's no reoccurring cost makes this even better.
7) motorola cell phones
My first cell phones were Motorola ones I had a cell phone razor for Motorola the original one back when they were really the hip cool thing I didn't really ask for that but I came from an affluent family and when we dropped our tracfones which were either Nokia or Motorola's I don't remember we don't have them anymore we upgraded to Verizon's extortion ANd greed plan I mean their corporate subsidy sharing plan since they were partners with the corporate death star that my dad worked at for decades we still got ripped off a lot but they gave the illusion of a deal they wrote down all kinds of crap on papers they could never be transparent or honest it was all fraud and greed and exploitation. I currently use AT&T which at least the place I go to is unionized and they changed me a lot less than what Verizon has ever done plus I am on a prepaid plan and I have unlimited talk and text now.
I had an iPhone 3GS that was my only non Motorola phone that I found I had two LG's never mind but otherwise I've been very loyal to Motorola after I was liberated from the iPhone that I bought used I bought new Motorola MOTO phones from access to g's to g's I don't really care I mean as long as it functions I'm happy that my current phone is 3 years old I it's the longest I've ever owned a phone I'm hoping to get another year or two out of it it does everything that I want though it's pretty awesome phone I've utilized this way more than any other phone that I've ever had to. I would prefer that Motorola's were made in America at a unionized facility and sold for the same price that they're sold now maybe just have them in a cooperative and it would be the sovereignty and freedom of America co-op that is not to hold into third party corporations or exploit of sweatshops that would be my telecom telephone Utopia. We'll see how that goes :-)
8) CPAP machine
Most people probably don't need a CPAP machine or would it get the same benefits that I would get out of it I stopped breathing every 30 seconds before I was on the CPAP machine I'd wake up and felt like I was going to throw up I think this added to my epilepsy issues. But the cpaps really worked well I think it's kept me healthier and more well rested. I know a number of people that kind of got scammed into these basically by insurance and because there's a lot of residual revenue that the insurance companies pay and these guys get a kickback from but I've been happy with the machine I have and I switch companies that I get my supplies from in the current ones really good it's up the road and it's their professional and they've helped me quite a bit.
9) PlayStations
I had one NES that I bought used for a console I got for $40 years ago. Then I bought a PS1 shortly thereafter I got a deal for a PS2 then I never bought another gaming console again and really played the hell out of the PS2 and that was really a ton of fun and I just love that thing there's just so much stuff you can do with it and the fact that it's a DVD player too is cool. A buddy of mine gave me a PS3 in the year 2020 so right on the end of their lifespan but I was able to play Grand Theft Auto V and even set up an online account before it all got shut down so I unlocked a lot of stuff and it was fun and also reaffirm my hatred of Blu-ray and why I'm a passionate fan of the DVD standard.
10) old Samsung tv displays
I have a big old Samsung flat screen. It's about 5 years old I never connected it to the Wi-Fi I like using third-party roku's over surrendering my sovereignty to one manufacturer or one corporation. I think they have the best display technology overall but from what I've heard and I'll put a link to it how their contents going and the fact that they're trying to be more than just a display is a little disconcerting.
Additional tech I really like the brother printers the black and white all-in-one is good for 90% of things. Microwaves and refrigerators are also useful technology Whirlpool brands that are union made are great.
10 Web Sites
websites to keep access to these 5 we're on my old work list
1)
https://www.bogleheads.org/index.php
non commercial investment website
bogleheads I almost to their books I bought copies of it I really enjoyed these guys I've even gone to the Eastern Iowa meet up for this group it was okay. I do think these guys have the best overall investment strategy for most people. I enjoy Taylor's refund investment approach I think he has some really good ideas I like their simplicity and overall cost structure these guys are the true advocates for financial Independence and freedom especially from the parasitic greedy exploitive financial industry that wants to extract as much money from the individual and enrich themselves at the expense of society and of individuals free will. I'm shocked at how many people get scammed by financial scum. This group really is an amazing website and resource for liberation from exploitation. They are honest and objective about the fact that they are not future fortune tellers or anything like that they can predict the next hot stock and how it will go. Praise Jack Bogle and these group

6) Google
In all reality this is the internet this is the core backbone this is my email and a majority of my websites my video viewing my voice to text operation my cell phone my world is seen through the Lens of this corporation it's fascinating to think about it and look at it really objectively I just felt like it's so embroidered into society and into my own perspectives that it wasn't even in my top five list. And another job I was at they got annoyed that I googled stuff I've always gotten in trouble at places for googling and researching things they want obedient surfs that do as they say and don't have any intellectual curiosity or research interest.
7) wealth plex.net this is the blog that I posted this on so I figured it would be important it would be a website that I've utilized some I try to use it at least once a week for post but I should really utilize it more I use this site more than any of my other websites for content updates contributions and intellectual curiosity.
8) https://ismyinternetworking.com/
A basic utility website that Really has a lot of valuable information on your internet connection data all that there's so many other websites that could be here or would really fall under this but I feel like this is a pretty good starting point and it's usually my starting point when I have trouble with the Internet or something like that.
9) 750words.com
I really wanted to do national novel writing month and I feel like I will knock out the words and get that but I haven't got it focused or disciplined enough to actually write a book again I wrote One in high school and then I have a variety of kind of half done books but I've never really focused and gotten disappointed enough to publish another one and I would like to do that. This website that was probably one of the best ones on the list here I was lucky enough to ghee in the grandfathered free account for in perpetuity which is really nice I guess 60 bucks isn't bad and I'll probably give them at least 20 or 40 a year just to help him out because I do utilize this all the time and I really get a lot of joy out of this website it's really help me refine my thought process and write down a whole bunch of ideas blog content and have an understanding of what I feel and where I'm at with things in my life.
10????
10 Writers
1) John T Reed
his books have really influenced my life in a number of ways I have his whole collection of real estate investment books those are really eye-opening in the realm of how he's much more risk-converged risk adverse than 90% of the real estate investment guys out there but he's able to use a lot of logical reasoning skills and has very well written detailed books with indexes and valuable information in them I have a whole shelf of his books. His hyperinflation depression book is also very good it really educated me about the value of a homestead bankruptcy exemption as well as advanced purchases and planning for various scenarios that could occur. His seceding book really has a lot of good information in it in the realm of how to set up yourself for success in life and what you should really strive for and all kinds of other worthwhile goals.
2) Aaron Clarey
is a truly prolific writer for someone who doesn't like to read or write that much I appreciate though that he's able to pump out these books. His book on the return on investment of women is very worthwhile if you ever thinking about getting into a long-term relationship he has quite a bit of extensive research on that and how for 90% of people it really doesn't pay off. His book on enjoy the decline is very educational on how to hedge your bets and understand what you can do and not do within a society and a culture that's on a downward spiral. Poor Richard's retirement is also a good retirement planning book minimalism book in overall personal finance book. Reconnaissance man is a really inclusive book on all kinds of travel all over the United States and his experiences perspectives and ideas on where it would be optimal for someone to live based on taxes quality of life and just the overall environment it's a real interesting read. The real shocker there is his opinion of the north side of Chicago how that's a real cultural hub and fun place to be is also my favorite place to travel to too so I thought that was interesting. His magnets opus is bachelor pad economics if you were only to get one book of his this would be the one it was really kind of my gateway drug to his YouTube series and other books and blogs and all the other content that he offers very interesting man not politically correct but very blunt and honest person.
3) Ed Romney
when I was younger I read his book living well on practically nothing and that was a really eye-opening book and influence within the rest of my life really on what I thought on economics minimalism frugality affordability and overall lifestyle. He only wrote this book this is the only book of his that I've read he wrote some other ones like his autobiography and some camera repair books. I have his original 1991 edition that I got in a surplus library sale but then I got his revised and updated edition the revised it updated one that came out in 2001 is really kind of the core nucleus of a lot of my philosophical and economic Outlook on certain things he was a very fiscally conservative man and not like that did not like that that d e b t and I've read other books that cover the same topic but his is really kind of the major influence.
4) Harry Newton
Newton's Telecom dictionary this was really a valuable book when I was working in the Telecom industry full-time it was quite the discussion starter and opened a number of social avenues for me more so than any other book that I've owned and that's kind of fascinating but in every office that I worked at in the Telecom industry I had this dictionary at my desk I could always look up acronyms and other forms of numbers meaning any of that stuff that tied into telecommunications and since I was really into that industry and like doing that work it was a really complimentary thing. I got to know an HR person when I was at the co-op after the former guy was there 30 years retired when they were playing around the new lady I showed her the dictionary she kept it for a couple months I got her another copy of it there was a little bit older so she'd still have it in her office and have the street cred. It was interesting to see all that and what the wonderful world of books can do for you.
5)Cory Doctorow
he wrote down and out in the magic Kingdom and is the only fiction writer that I have on my list he also wrote the book content which he autographed for me he was at icon 35 in 2010 that was the first icon I've ever been to but I've gone back every year icon Iowa and his books his works his philosophical Outlook with technology sovereignty and freedom so you are not beholden to a corporate overlord is something I value highly and respect for him. He also said how many times he attempted to start different online venues or ventures and how most of them just never took off and it took him dozens of attempts he said if he tried that in the traditional media fields or even with traditional businesses he would have gone bankrupt multiple times but because of the online space it allows for scale and minimal startup cost to make something like this feasible. That's one of the reasons I have this blog and I really feel like with my business ventures I would try to do more online stuff and go that route to make some money I don't need to make a ton but to just make some sustainable money and have some other avenues I think that would be good.
6 Douglas Rushkoff
His books run along the same lines is a lot of the other ones that I enjoy here really philosophical technological books they also question the corporate dominance of the media and the cultural landscape of America and the Western world what the pros and the cons are to that and just how to escape some of it too. ) program or be programmed life Inc
7) John c bogle
Mr Bogle is one of my favorite people overall for what he did creating vanguard even though personally I would like vanguard to be more of a cooperative structure one human One voice one volt whatever you want to structure it like so it'd be more democratic and more co-op less corporate but anyhow he really has a lot of statements and things about how do we reach enough when is it the point of a minute marginal returns Internet we're no longer getting a good return on our investment of our money of our time of our effort and what do we want to get out of our life he's written a number of really good books but this one in particular is probably my favorite.
8) Peter McWilliams
I believe the book was life 101 I read it when I was in high school Peter self-published his books in a time when that was really rare and radical in the 80s and '90s I remember a particular passage in there about how do we want to set goals for ourselves in our life how some people want to shoot for the stars literally in a rocket ship but would they really be willing to sacrifice all that's needed to get to the moon I already get way up in the space versus just settling for a video or picture of that and how do we prioritize what we need or want to do in life it might have been the book just do it that was that one I think more now that I'm thinking of it I also liked his book ain't no business what you do the absurdity of consensual consensual crimes in America all those books are way positive and interesting books for me when I was growing up I still really enjoy rereading them too but most of them on this list I feel that way as well.
9) jaron Lanier
This one again speaks to you who owns the technology who really controls it how much of its an illusion that we have control over ourselves and our technology who owns the future and that we are not our gadget are important concepts to grass with him.
10) Jim Goad
redneck manifesto
This guy also wrote the new church ladies and is really the opposite of politically correct but I really think he underlines the unity within the class structure of working class people whatever race they are and of understanding and valuing the individual.
