Day 500 and 400 updates
Welcome to Day 400 of my 1001 Days, 101 Goals (V4.0) journey! One of my goals (#100) is to do an update every 100 days, and this one is easily the most significant update I’ve written in probably four years.
A lot has happened recently, and I’ve been busy building a solid baseline to
move forward. Here is a look at the biggest changes and the goals I'm crossing off the list.
The Biggest Change: Taking the Leap
Goal #26: Keep my day job till I can transition to fully self-employed — DONE!
Within the last week, I officially made the pivot. Wrapping up my time at Wix on February 18th was a massive milestone, and I am now fully self-employed and pouring my energy into growing
It’s been a bit of a culture shock, to be honest. Moving from the employee route to the self-employed route is a completely different lifestyle and mindset. It's a huge shift, but I’ve been putting in the work to get a good foundation set up so I’m prepared to take the business to the next level.
Handling the Practical Stuff
A big part of taking this le
ap was making sure the safety nets were in place. I’ve officially got my ACA health insurance all sorted out. It kicks in on
March 1st. I’ve got all the paperwork filed, the prepay
ment and binder are paid, and auto-pay is set up. Getting that ball rolling and out of the wa
y is a huge relief so I can just focus on the business.
Getting Outdoors
Goal #29: Join the Izaak Walton League in Cedar Rapids — DONE!
In early February, my dad, Jim, and I officially became members of the Izaak Walton League. It’s great to get this crossed off the list and have a shared activity to do together.
Looking Ahead
This period is all about rolling the business forward and adjusting to this new chapter. Hitting Day 400 with such a massive life change feels incredible.
Onward to the next 100 days!
June 4th officially marked my 500th day of the "1001 Days, 101 Goals" challenge, and I am incredibly happy to report some great progress.
Lately, I’ve been focusing a lot on the financial and community-minded goals. I've been doing some great work with Meals on Wheels, and I’ve also dove deep into a massive budget review. I've been actively analyzing my cash flow—looking at exactly where I'm spending money, how much I've spent, and where that money is going. It feels amazing to have that kind of clarity.
Beyond the specific list items, I am genuinely happy with where I’m at in life right now. Both my business ventures and my personal life are moving in really positive directions. It has been a fantastic season for this iteration of the 101 goals.
As of this midway point, I have officially knocked over 22 items off the list!
When it comes to these challenges, I never actually expect to get all 101 goals completed. I think the closest I’ve ever gotten in past versions was 57. But to me, that’s not the point. It is always better to put these ambitions out into the universe and strive for them than to not try at all.
Every single completed item is a step forward.
For the rest of this year, I plan to laser-focus on this list and try to knock out as many more as I can. We are officially on the countdown for the second half of the challenge, and I'm excited to see how much further I can get!
Thank you all for following along on this journey. How are your own personal goals looking for the rest of the year? Let me know in the comments!
